Pettersson for Wood one for one

or

Pettersson Sceviour (make cap work) Bjorkqvist 5th for Wood Zajac 3rd

What about MP for Wood straight up but then we flip Wood and a 3rd to ANH for Getzlaf half retained.

I like Zajac but he isn`t really what they are looking for right now.

I love it.

Keep in mind if we get Wood we would just lose him in the expansion anyways.

Not if we pay Seattle to take someone like a Aston Reese or Matheson

That is going to cost a 1st round pick at the minimum apparently. I wouldn`t pay that to get rid of either of those guys.

I dont think it will-- ZAR and 4th would do. Matheson has looked really good lately too-- could pair a b/c level prospect

What is up with Pettersson?
Just down year?

He hasn’t been horrible since being put back with Marino. With no training camp, none of these guys really got to train/practice together. With all the injuries and being paired with new people constantly didn’t help. Plus the fact that pens fans just have to have a whipping boy every year lol.

I have to ask...what is your fascination with Getzlaf? Seriously lol. I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if you were to come out and offer Crosby or Malkin for Getzlaf.

I don't really understand the allure of Miles Wood

that's because there is none. Penguins aren't doing that.

Big physical dman-- what we are missing. Some claim he is too slow but I think he would be fine

yeah just what the penguins need. Another multi million dollar statue on the 3rd pairing.
That doesn't make the team better. This team already has 5 defensemen making 4+ million. Swapping one out for another doesn't fix the team.
They need to move one in the offseason and let the youth play to save cap space.
This isn't rocket science.

Not happy with his comments today.

The clear best way forward is to trade MP and get a physical 3rd pairing D and a physical F or W. He and Burke walked back prior comments about hockey trades. I hope its a smokescreen. This team has the parts to be a serious contender. If they play their cards right I think we have a shot but it is going to take some shuffling.

If hockey trades aren’t available then you can’t be blaming hextall for not making one lol. Takes two GMs to tango.

And we shouldn’t make trades just to make trades. That got GMJR in trouble. When it works out, you’re a genius. When it doesn’t, you’re the worst gm ever. There is no middle ground in that scenario lol

True, it could be that they weren`t others looking to dance. I would think there would be teams interested in MP though.

Especially with how few resources we have now. There’s opportunity cost to consider. If we just make trades to make trades we won’t have trade bait left when a more clear need arises

I’m sure teams are interested in him but with that contract and the expansion draft looming it screams offseason move imo. I do t think we can get value in season with this one

I don’t doubt there is. The problem is the expansion draft complicates things. That’s why I’m convinced that if he gets traded (which I believe he will), it will be in the offseason after the expansion draft.

Honestly with him rounding back into form a bit lately it could turn out better to trade him in the offseason. Let his value continue to rise a bit while he plays with Marino

there are plenty of teams interested in defense. It's highly coveted. We don't need to move him just for the sake of moving him.
My god, Jack Johnson got a contract this summer, that's how badly teams are looking for defense. There are half a dozen teams that would trade for him if we needed to.
But honestly we are better off protecting him and putting Matheson on the expansion draft. It's better than losing one of either Blueger or McCann.

Cannot imagine Wood and Zajac deal in same package as Wood would off-season move and Zajac is UFA
