Detroit needs to use their retained contracts on more expensive contracts. We will not be retaining on cheaper contracts.

I don't think Montreal would want to trade Mete or their 1st, but Schwartz is definitely an interesting player to look at.

Looking further into this, Schwartz with the way he's playing, is a cap dump. It's Lehkonen + Mete + 1st round pick to upgrade from Mete to Dunn.

Montreal has no interest in this trade.

Depending on how the TDL plays out you might be able to get a little retention but I would count on it. It will probably take a 5th to get Merrill.
