Deadline Moves

Created by: BruinsFan35
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 7, 2021
Published: Apr. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Smith has looked good with Bergeron and Marchand, so I think we keep them together and let Pasta play with Krejci and Ritchie. DeBrusk has been quite terrible this year, so package him with some prospects for an upgrade to help stimulate more production from Coyle. Let Stud into the lineup too, he's decent offensively when in the lineup. Goaltending isn't an issue, even with Rask out right now, but I'd try to add a decent depth defenseman since we've been injured all year. Also, move Kuraly out, since he's expiring it shouldn't be too hard, but he's also been quite bad.
Trades
1.
NJD
  1. Berglund, Victor
  2. DeBrusk, Jake
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (BOS)
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Who adds? DeBrusk is a young forward with second line potential, Berglund is a future 3RD, maybe with fringe 2RD potential but I doubt it, a second and a third for a meh defensive dman and Palmieri who's only been ok this year and is expiring.
2.
BOS
  1. Hall, Taylor ($4,000,000 retained)
  2. Montour, Brandon
BUF
  1. Kuntar, Trevor [Reserve List]
  2. Kuraly, Sean
  3. Schmaltz, Jake [Reserve List]
  4. 2021 1st round pick (BOS)

Palmieri is washed in my opinion. No interest.

Really? Why do think so? Just curious, as I've always been quite the fan of Palmieri. I understand he's been off this year, but he's still a little young to be "washed," no?

Absolutely not. He’s a 30 year old power forward. The list of guys that play his style that fell off a cliff at 30 is a really really long one. Lucic, backes. Clowe. The list goes on and on and on. Palmieri’ s time as come. He isn’t good anymore.

Washed up? No.
I cannot explain his unusual drop in shooting % though.
He is attempting as many shots as previous years, similar quality chances. Higher CF% than previous years.
Just not putting up points. Just a little unlucky on a bad team.
But hardly washed up.

I'd trade for him just so he doesn't score against Boston (5 Goals this season) in their final two games against NJ. lol

All jokes aside, Palmieri won't be getting any better but I do think he fits the bruins window of cup contention, he is having a down year but I think that has more to do with his team and less to do with him. Realistically they probably only have another year or two to push for a cup and Palmieri would be willing to sign a team friendly deal to be in Boston

I don't think Palmieri is having a big down year like most people are saying. I agree that it mostly has to do with the team but Palmieri is still 2nd on the team in goals and is consistently showing effort and heart every game. could see the Bruins doing a trade and sign with Palmieri.

Cant see DeBrusk being dealt for rentals. if the Bruins do feel like moving him, i can see it in the offseason for a defensemen after expansion shakes out.

Don’t think Sweeney learned his lesson with backes?

Exactly, in an 82 game season he would still be on pace for 41 pts

He did learn his lesson with Backes, he wont be signing Palmieri for 6M. If he signs him to similar money to Smith I won't be disapointed.

Didn't he do something similar with Coyle?

Yeah and 41 points isn't even that bad for him, especially since he was playing better as of late and could've gotten more points before he was scratched. Plus, Palmieri is very solid defensively

I don't think Palmieri wants a contract similar to Smith. If he did, he probably would have resigned with the Devils

If he even inquires about the washed up 30 year old power forward I’ll be disappointed.

No. Coyle was 27 when he signed.

His 6 year deal that he signed at 27 kicked in at 28. He will have 4 years left at 5.25M cap hit when he is 30, like Palmieri is now. Will be interesting to see what Palmieri signs for and how Coyle holds up as his contract runs down.
