If they make another move I'd assume its for a defenseman, I really dont see a fit up front

We couldn't afford both at full salary. I think it made sense for NJD to maximize the return and for Lou to maximize flexibility. Could still see another minor move before the playoffs

Might want the flexibility in case he wants to snipe another high profile target. Say it turns out the market for Hall or Foligno goes down, Lou can swoop in and get a bargain.
