Overall I think 3rd for Glendening is spot on, but I think they can get that (EDM next year) without retaining and still retaining on other players to move them IE Bernier or Staal, plus even without you'd till be under the cap.

Correct .. except they can only retain on TWO contracts.

The same contract can only have retention a maximum of two times, that could be what you're thinking of?

For example, if Buffalo trades Hall and retains 4m, then team B trades him again and retains another 2m, team C could not trade him and retain even more.
