Staal and Perry stay They decide their own cap hit

Description
Thornton, Spezza, Staal, and Perry are all competing to legend status if they’re able to bring a cup back to either Toronto or Montreal. It would be one helluva ride.
Danault is playing his ass off again. I’d pay him like Pageau even post Covid if he plays like this for the rest of the season. Hoping that will be the case.
Would Tatar sign a 1 year extension today for two cracks at the cup for a $4mm cap hit? (Full NMC).
1 year bridge for KK probably makes the most financial sense short term for the team and long term for the player. I’m not sure how it works for players with no arbitration rights in the new CBA, but whatever the minimum is that is permissible, I’d assume most players will be getting their one year qualifying offers at the minimum that is allowed and that there will be very little wiggle room on that (to maintain goodwill) more or less across the board.

I think I would try signing KK to a long term contract like /6/7/8 years

I would too. The problem is cap space.

Marc would be all over this but if KK's agent has a brain he'll ask for a bridge.

It’ll be interesting to see what Hughes, Tkatchuk, Dahlin and Svechnikov sign for. He’ll likely be noticeably less than each of those 4. Way ahead of whoever number six is though of his draft class who’s ELC expires this off-season.

    Hugues - Bridge
    Tkatchuk - Long term deal
    Dahlin - Bridge
    Schev - Long term deal
That's what they should get based on performances. The two that have shown to be high end roster player will get paid but the ones showing progress but still not there yet (KK, Hugue and Dahlin) will get bridges.
