They have adjusted that over the past few days with the emergence of Galchenyuk. They said they will still look but it is a lot lower of a priority than it was before.
Dubas most recent quote on the subject.
"I think the emergence of Galchenyuk playing with John and William, both in terms of the fact he’s produced a little bit but in terms of how hard he’s playing and the effectiveness that he’s brought to the group, I think certainly reduces the urgency,” Dubas said.
“But with all that said, if we can do something that we think is going to be a good fit in the locker room and on the ice, I think we would still very openly explore that.’’
Lebrun's take on that his guesses would be Palmieri (article was a couple of days ago), Foligno, or maybe a Laughton. All of those guys would still be in the top 6/7 for the Leafs (all >>>> Glendening).
So I really don't think their top priority has changed at all.
IMO they want Hyman 2.0. Someone that can play with M & M on the top line, so Hyman can carry that checking line. Or they can replace Simmonds on that checking line, and improve that trio.
They've spent the entire year trying to build a decent checking line, so they can roll 2 lines against the other teams best (L1 & L3). I really don't see them completely abandoning that plan once games really start to mean something.
