CBJ hockey deal

Created by: Hockeyplayer1
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 8, 2021
Published: Apr. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Columbus needs depth up the middle. Hawks need a legit top pair D-man to which they are clearly unable to draft.

Columbus gets a 2nd line point producing center, a defenseman they can insert into their top-4 with the absence of Werenski, a D prospect and a depth forward which they also need. Columbus gets more depth and 4 players they will have control of through their next contracts. This is a big part of this deal. All 4 of these players are RFAs after their current deals. Columbus has a tough time keeping players around or enticing them to come in free agency.

Chicago gets the D-man they need. Strome is a nice piece but not a necessity as long as Toews is planned to return. Zadorov is also expendable if Werenski is coming in.

Overall both teams get things they need while also losing valuable assets. I would be open to sending a 3rd rounder to Columbus since they have very little prospect stock since going all in 2 years ago.

If that’s all it took to get Werenski, every team would be calling. His value is much higher and you will probably be scorched for this.

Defenseman take longer to develop. I like what we have in Beaudin. He could be a number 1 if he keeps progressing.

Beaudin does not have the skill to be a top pairing defenseman. Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot, but he just doesn't have to ceiling for top pair in the NHL. He will probably be a good 2nd pairing guy though for most of his career.

"CBJ hockey deal"

I sorta got confused looking at that with first glance. "Every post on this is a hockey deal, what does this mean?"

Then i got an idea that has probably been thought of multiple different times. CapFriendly for different sports.

Columbus ask for Dach in a Werenski trade. No Chicago isn’t going to do it, but if Columbus is moving Werenski they need a young top line center coming back. Not to say your package doesn’t have value, it’s just quality vs quantity.

He is really tearing up the AHL this season, at least offensively. Since he had a rough go in his first AHL season, I am encouraged that he will keep getting better. Him and Mitchell we're on a pair last night in rockford, while they might not be number 1 and 2 yet I see a bright future.

The first words out of my mouth upon seeing this would probably get me infracted.

The only way Werenski ever moves is if we get a legit for-real NHL-level #1C around the same age. No quantity-for-quality packages allowed - we've got depth, it's core guys that are missing.
