This only works if Andersen is out until the playoffs, which I would guess you are assuming here. Also, I don't think Thornton would be a healthy scratch, no matter who they bring in.

well I think andersen is out until after the TDL and jack is doing just fine as a starter

as for thornton, I know it's not ideal with him as a scratch but he hasn't been playing great so someone else should have his spot

I hear you, just saying that this trade does not work unless Andersen is out until the playoffs, otherwise he would come off the LTIR and his cap hit would begin to count again.

Like the trades because current NHL players aren't being sent back in the trades.

Point is, that package isn’t getting it done. Maybe try someone that the Sabres have heard of.

oh yea let me just call Kevyn Adams and ask him who he's heard of, why didn't I think if that before.

point is, maybe that's all the sabres can get. hall is having a terrible year and is a ufa at the end of the season, so maybe the sabres are trying get anything they can for him atm.

and btw, hall doesn't get nic rob, sandin, amirov, liljegren, hallander, abramov, or abruzzese, when there's a second, and if any team is dumb enough to pay a first be my guest

I don’t think he’ll get a first. I think he’ll get a second and a prospect that isn’t garbage. Btw, half of the guys you just listed are kinda towards that category. A 2nd and liljigren would be a steal for toronto.

no way is that a steal for the leafs at all, liljegren I most likely gonna be on the team next year and has potential to be a top 4 guy in the future. the leafs aren't gonna give that up for half a season of hall

Cmon. We both know what liljigren is. He’s the guy the leafs should be looking to get rid of. Diminishing returns.

and why is that? why do you think he's gonna be a bust or a mediocre player?

His play.

Honestly that doesn’t really matter. Just like every player that’s about to turn 22 and can’t crack a poor blue line, their value is trending down.

he's literally been the marlies best player this season, he's clearly too good for the ahl. of course you wouldn't know that because you don't watch their games but rather base your opinion on what other people say, who also don't watch them play.

oh and btw, Rasmus Andersson only started playing regularly for the flames when he was 22

I don’t watch Marlies games. Why the heck would i? I watch leafs games. If he isn’t able to crack that blue line, there’s a problem with the player.

Rasmus andersson didn’t have a ton of trade value when he was in the minors.

and look where he is now, loads of value and loads of talent. maybe, just maybe, the leafs think liljegren can do the same, just an idea though

I’m not talking about what the player will be. I’m talking about trade value. You can literally say, “he could develop!” About any prospect in the league. Doesn’t mean they have the trade value.
