Fair, its a tough price. Kind of just what I think it would take the sharks to move him. Kapanen style deal

yea put everyone agrees that was a dumb overpayment. Also pitts prospect wasn't anywhere near amirov's skill level and potential

Dubas says repeatedly they want to get a rental.

This is the response from other fans.

None of the assets here are worth a 1st let alone a 1st and a guy picked 15th overall last year.

Leblanc might be worth his 4.75m contract, but it's a contract Leafs can't afford next year without moving a big contract out.

That's about twice of what Labanc is worth I would think. Remove Amirov from this trade (Toronto could then throw in a lesser prospect) and it is fair. You used the Kapanen deal as an example, but that was a first (Amirov) plus Hallender (Hallender is not worth anywhere close to a first), and Kapanen is probably slightly better.

Lebanc is worth a mid 1st easily. Young and on a solid deal (even though leafs probably still can’t afford that deal) and he has proven he can be a 50 pt guy before. On the leafs lebanc probably scores 20 goals and has 55 pts throughout his whole deal. But I do agree he’s not worth the 1st and Amirov.

Also just makes more sense for the leafs to get a rental. I actually think there’s a chance they trade for hall.

I agree that this is more than that, but Labanc is clearly better and has a longer contract (although more expensive). Was Hallender not one of the best Pens prospects? Also the pens pick is likely 10 picks earlier than the Leafs

Doesn't make me wrong. An older declining goalie and a bottom 6er doesn't get you 1 st

Dubas has actually said the opposite, that a rental makes more sense this season.

Yes, but the Pens prospect pool was questionable to say the least. He's probably in the 7-10 range for the Leafs.

Labanc would be the 4th best forward on the leafs by WAR and Spezza is one of the ones above him.

Which tells you how legitimate WAR is. Good players get sewered by WAR and average players look like kings. LaBlanc is fine but he's not the 4th best forward in TO. No one on the planet thinks he's better than Matthews, Marner, JT, Nylander or Hyman. Out of lunch.

Yeah Sharks will only wanna deal him at a Kapanen-type price, and no one wants that most likely. Stalemate

You know what, I actually didn't realize just how good Labanc is, he's better than Kapanen.
Nonetheless, it's still an overpayment because a first>>Hallender, and although getting a better player would cost more, I don't think it's good for the leafs because it means they loose Holl at the expansion draft(not to mention Andersen in this trade, Andersen>Dubnuk even when accounting cap hits). Also the higher cost might mean they can't get a good 3c (as Kerfoot is almost certain going to be gone before next offseason).
Also, Dubas was pretty specific that he wants a rental (due to flat cap, expansion draft, etc).

Ya, my bad, I didn't realize he scored over 50 points before for some reason.

He'd still be the leafs 6th best forward, and you really can't argue against that. But none the less,

Yeah and Spezza could be a top line forward in Detroit. Being the best on a terrible team doesn't mean you are also a top 6 on a much better team.

This is why leafs fans have such a bad reputation.

I don't care how well Gally has been with JT and Willy, no one on planet earth thinks he's better than Labanc.
