Why wouldn't you just trade Kerfoot for peanuts and use that 1st to buy an upgrade on whoever you lost anyway?

So the Laine trade ended up costing you Hyman. You upgraded about 10 goals a season for the cost of a 1st, Sandin and Robertson. Hardly worthwhile.

Not too mention all the gains the Leafs have made defensively this year would be completely out the window.

As we've all seen firewagon hockey is the true key to success!!

What's so wrong with Kerfoot that a sweeter is needed. As described by Byrr above, a thousand ways to spend 7.5m better than Laine.

They'd still have Dermott. No chance Sabres make the 2 nd trade....

The only sure things in Buffalo:

      1. Eichel
      2. Olofsson
      3. Dahlin
      4. Loosing
      5. Anything can happen not involving 1-3.

Yeah, I moreso meant the Leafs best defensive forward/best PK option being replaced with a horrible defensive forward.

I'd take Hyman 10 times out of 10 over Laine. 100/100 given their likely AAV's...based on what the leafs have vs what they need.

The sweetener was payment for not taking Laine or Nylander or Campbell

We'd insist on some kind of top-6 C coming back in a Laine trade, and that asset isn't present in this proposal. (Also, c'mon; do y'all really need more high-priced forwards at this point?)
