What does that have to do with the expansion draft? They're not just gonna take Holtby because you want them to so dream on.

In a flat cap league where revenue is way down, nobody with cap space is taking bad cintracts for peanuts. Either to prospects or high picks, other than that you are stuck with Eriksson and Holtby. My questio than is why would Seattle and Detroit eat cap space for low prospects and low picks?

Seattle has already said if you want to dump cap on us it costs a 1st and a top prospect.

Vancouver has royally effed themselves with cap management and letting really good players walk.

How this roster is almost at the cap (with 3 ECLs) is beyond me.

Benning has stated several times that he will NOT use picks to get rid of louies contract. We can simply buy him out in the summer he has very little money owing on his actual contract.

well with 17 million in cap space at yr end plus a couple of trades at the deadline plus signing at least Podkolzin to a entry level contract and a couple of good young players breaking into the league next year (Lind and Rathbone) plus LTIR, and using the minors, i think jim was smart to walk away from our Calgary free agents. So really were in pretty good shape especially if we buy out Louie and Quinn and Peety dont ask for the moon on their first contracts. In my opinion.

I'm not too sure. This post has Pod in there and reasonable contracts for Quinn and Pet and look at where they're at. This is also assuming they can even get rid of Eriksson or Holtby. Even if you dont re-sign Edler or Hamonc (which they prob will) it is going to be tight. I really liked this team last year and was excited to see what they would be but now I have little faith in them icing a contending roster.

Math is easy. NHL must be hard for you.
Last I checked there are more options than trading picks.

Management is on the record stating they will not trade picks to dump salary, ie Ericksson and Holtby.
