Silly big Columbus Trade

Created by: macca2119
Team: 2020-21 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 8, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ok, this one is unrealistic because we just don't see massive trades like this anymore...but...it makes a lot of sense on both sides.

Col:
Foligno/Savard for the playoff run. What a tough 3rd line...and Foligno give the team a nice middle six if they want to shuffle the lines.

Korpisalo is interesting. He can give Grubauer the rest he needs AND is not just insurance for the playoffs but if for some reason Grubauer prices himself out during the next contract round, Korpisalo is singed for another year / is a healthy G for the expansion draft.

Texier just feels like a Colorado player...speed speed speed...and it would basically be Kaut for Texier.

Columbus gets: Compher (needed to make salaries work) + 2 B prospects and a 1st.

I may have overpaid in my fake trade :)

It's so true though like back in day some deals would have 1/3 of the team in them and it doesn't happen anymore and that's so damned unfortunate cry

Gord bless you for this

cheers

?

They nearly get the 4 best assets all told in the entire deal and it fits their situation perfectly: unloading older expiring assets for younger cost controlled RFAs

It's also literally 3 first round picks like 😳

Definitely considering the Texier inclusion (imo). What about this?

Compher, Francouz, Bowers, 1st for Korps (800k retained), Savard, 3rd?

Columbus gets a 1b for next year and also picks up a few assets. Coorado gets a younger 1b and Savard.

Now that’s a trade that could be a win for both sides

First off, Texier is a non-starter imo. On top of that, I’m not a fan of the young pieces they’ve getting back. Kaut is prob a third line winger at best, Timmins is good but has major injury concerns, and I don’t think a late first should carry much value in the first place, but even more so this year considering the lack of proper scouting and it being a crappy draft, especially after picks 15-20

In agreement with the assements of others here that the inclusion of Texier sinks this proposal. He's one of our eventually-top-6-C projects; we're not giving him up unless we get someone who's a top-6 C and not a project. Which I suspect makes it unreasonable for Colorado.
