Description
Mtl has very good depth but they lack high-end talent. Dougie is the best puck moving defencemen on the market and he fills mtl’s biggest need. He plays the wrong side but they can make it work similar to to Tampa.

Gaudreau will likely light it up in mtls offence similar to toffoli. He’s having a down year and Calgary will likely explore their options as he’s in a contract year. Maybe a little bit of an overpay but you also move on from drouin at 5.5, don’t think any team would take him without retention or an asset with a flat cap. Filled the rest of the roster with some solid depth and let danault walk.

    Nah, just no interest in byron. If you can get somebody to take him for a 2nd and 3rd, take it.

    Hard to see anyone wanting to take Drouin's $5.5m + term right now. We'd likely need to pay a team to take him.
    For Byron, he's worth using picks to move before the deadline if Bergevin wants to make a big move because he'll need the cap space. Once the season's over though, he may be better off just buying out the contract.

    Drouin and 2 first round picks for another player that has disappointed in almost every year in his career? No thank you. Would rather keep Danault than sign Granlund and Coleman

    meh, not really. I'm not keen on acquiring another player who clearly gives his coach headaches and is known to be a floater like drouin is... especially if it means losing Guhle.
