I think a part of it is the weird forward line combos. I don't think they're optimized for offense or defense.

i agree with you. my biggest issue with this organization is they REFUSE to play their best players. This has cost them at least one more cup. Sheary Eller and Panik had some of the best play and it lasted less than a game. Dillon needs to sit for a little while. His play has been terrible. Carlson might be too good to sit but his play also sucks. Fehérváry needs to get some NHL time
