Despite everything, this team is currently in the last playoff spot and they have EARNED an add from management. Strong seasons from players like Keller, Kessel, and OEL and breakout seasons from Garland and Chychrun (a real #1 and top 10 d man in this league), I think this group has earned a shot in the arm to help them lock down the 4 seed. Do I think this team can beat Colorado or VGK in this first round, no. But this team deserves credit for a BRUTAL first half schedule, and playing a third of their games with their third string goalie (despite that fact that Hill is a real NHL goalie, and could be most team's #2).

So what do they do. This team is not in a position to give up any premium future assets. So that means, 2022 1st is off limits, the 2 2021 2nd rounders off limits, Hayton NO, any prospects above the John Farinacci line NO.

What they need. A reliable two-way bottom six center who can win faceoffs. Allows the depth to be Schmatlz - Dvo - Player X - Larsson. They could also use a middle six wing. A crucially important a mobile RHD (the foot speed of this group is sooo bad. Demers, Hjalmarsson are stuck in cement).

Hossa heads to LTIR to create the cap space. Pitlick is close to returning, he's in this line-up. I'm also assuming Kuemps and Raanta are healthy.
