it seems like the busiest flames fans on this site can only say "flames decline" "no" "not close" with zero substance, if you cant substantiate a disagreement then just dont..

compare it to the pacioretty deal. calgary wants to stay competitive, they need a roster player, they want to get better they need a future piece and the would likely want a draft pick. flames probably have to add a touch in a few deals

people who are still valuing gaudreau as a 99 point trade piece are out of their minds, it wont happen. not only because his production has decline but his playoff performance, his age, his contract etc etc.

I won't pretend to know enough about most of the prospects up there but I think the Pacioretty deal is a close comparison, Flames should get a bit more but it's a good baseline, these deals are with competitive teams and the seconds are basically thirds, a lot could bump to a first in my mind.

Nylander is likely worth more than Gaudreau right now. He's younger and has been better the past 2 years. Plus he's locked up longer for cheaper. Makes no sense

fair enough, tatar did have nearly 40 points the year before he was moved so maybe not a true cap dump but a good point to keep in mind for sure.

thats pretty high praise for a good 2c with potentially better options coming up in the system and needing to pay him in two years. gaudreau would make more sense for the canes to re sign in two years than trocheck.

Florida, Nashville and Pitts are the deal I like the most, but I prefer Calgary keep Gaudreau and bring an elite centerman

Montreal has no interest in Gaudreau. Bergevin is trying to build a playoff team and Gaudreau is known to disappear when that time comes. I'd say they have no interest in him whatsoever.

That's a good point, I didn't realize how much time Tatar had left on his deal at the time of the move!

no it wouldnt. Necas is a much better winger in this league than a center. I would easily take Tro over Gaudrea any day. Not only are centers worth more but RBA would play a future center for 2 seasons to get them ready to play in the league. A tried and true center is huge here.
