Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 9, 2021
Published: Apr. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
EDM
Before Ottawa commences on a TDL sell, they bring back former player in Turris where he had his prime years in Ottawa. He could fill in a bottom 6 C role for the remainder of this year plus next. It’s always good to have veterans surrounding a young core.
    OTT
    1. Turris, Kyle
    Additional Details:
    Waiver Claim
    2.
    EDM
    1. Ryan, Derek ($975,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Calgary moves out a prior waived player in Ryan for a former player in Chiasson. As CGY seems to stack Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Lucic & Mangiapane on the left, and Lindholm in the middle, they seem quite weak on the right. Chiasson is not only proven to score next to great talent, but he works as a net front presence on a power play.
    CGY
    1. Chiasson, Alex
    Additional Details:
(CGY retains to make Ryan’s contract equal to Chiassons)
    3.
    EDM
    1. Hall, Taylor ($4,000,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Buffalo is a position of 0 power. Kevyn Adams can either get little value from Hall at the deadline, or watch him walk at the deadline, unfortunate situation for BUF but quite legit none the less. EDM frees a taxi squad ridden player in Joakim Nygard to get playing time in BUF, also a depth, young defenceman in Lagesson, solidifying the top 6 heading into the playoffs, with Bouch waiting as the 7th D, and potentially a returning from Sweden Broberg on the taxi squad
    BUF
    1. Lagesson, William
    2. Nygård, Joakim

I mean Adams would have leverage if another team offered him more.

You are bidding against other teams, not just the sabres situation.

What value is there for Calgary to make that trade?? Just to do the Oilers a favour?? Very odd

True, but he would be lucky at this point to be offered three years at $5 million.

Obviously, the best way to solve a supposedly terrible position in Buffalo is to take what is likely a mid to late 2nd and a couple warm bodies..... I guess the Oilers and Sabres are the only teams in the league now.

I think if Turris were UFA at the end of the season Ottawa might take him for a 7th or something, but seeing as he has another year on his deal what you'd have to give up to move him makes no sense.
