these are all drastic over payments, especially for retention, that result in a roster that isnt any better

yeah, the sharks take that and run, especially since it's like 400k in actual dollars and nothing after the season. No way the leafs even consider that

So wait, San Jose gets more out of Bozak than the Blues do? How about no thanks.

ill take foligno all day over engvall...guy should be a model for bauer sticks the way he reaches for pucks and not finishing hits...could get lots of great action shots of their sticks in nhl action...great marketing move..

    get real

Except Engvall is better than foligno defensivly by a significant margin. And Engvall would be replaced by Bozak in this scenario, who is worse than Engvall at everything. Foligno is worse than Kerfoot. Not to mention now the leafs have to find two new players to fill in next year who arnt in their mid 30s and terrible now.
These are bad moves for the Leafs

That's an outrageous price to pay for the retention.

More craziness of liking mediocrity players thinking they are beat improvements. Bozak hasn't been good this year. Leafs trade two centres and don't get one in return. Spezza is not a centre now.
So the Leafs trade two centres for Bozak. Foligno and Olesiak. Then they Leafs are down their two players and wait for five games for this player are NHL ready. And to give up all those picks to...A big overpayment little or no improvement.

I like these trades...you clear space next year and can go after other free agents and depth players- you're getting guys who are defensive minded, have won a cup (bozak) and can play tough..

engvall falls over his own size 13 boots out there when a breeze hits him from someone skating past him.. i like kerfoot but you need the cap space moving forward.

go ahead with your hoffman and hall trades bunch of prima donnas and guys who definitely wont help defensively.

Bozak and Foligno are not good defensively.

    1. i just want to see bozak back with the leafs.
    2. bozak great faceoff guy..around 60% last year and again this year.
    3. gives another option on the PK
    4. these guys are gone in the off season anyways- need the space for moves in offseason (hyman - rielly extension)
    5. im not sure where you seem to get information on foligno not being a good defensive player...? im not even a stat guy and dom lucyzyensnednd from the Athletic had numbers on this last year. i dont even know stats i just watch hockey...but here are a few quick things i read from stat sources... was just as good as bergeron last year in shot suppression and ahead of cirelli in goal suppression...those two guys awful defensively too.

lets trade for hall..2 goals unreal.

1-face offs are meaningless if you xant maintain puck possession after and bozak gets murderd in it. Amd hes not a good pk guy either.
2-these guys are gone so they are bad and then have no retained value
3-bad on the pk, which is actually fine when the leafs have a goalie who isnt hurt in net
4-foligno has been brutal defensively this season

Oh, and Taylor hall is better defensively than both of those guys and is an extremely effective play driver and still producing assists at close to his career rate while suffering the worst shooting luck of his career on a historical bad team.
    Unreal indeed
