And on the same day the Leafs do this the Av's get an useful player in Nemeth at half retained for just a 4th Rd pick....forget about the Leafs so called need for a top 6 forward, if Dubas was a legit genius ( lol ) he would know the team needs a bottom 6 playoff harden player, a depth Dman and a backup goalie.

Aaron Portzline made a great point - “ The truly bizarre aspect of Friday’s #CBJ trade w #LeafsForever — Riley Nash to TOR for a conditional pick — is that it could only happen BECAUSE Nash is injured.

If he doesn’t sprain his knee vs. Florida last Sunday, CBJ could have traded him, sure. But not to Toronto.”

He got a playoff hardened bottom 6 player in this deal though... and for cheaper than Colorado got Nemeth.

A bunch of people in this thread being completely oblivious to the fact that Brandon Pridham(Leafs assistant GM) wrote the CBA...

Nash ???? hahahahaha playoff hardened....we had a guy like him already lost on waivers, Travis Boyd, who is $2 million cheaper.

Ok, he doesn't have as much playoff experience as I thought, but he's been in the playoffs the last 4 years (2 or 3 against the leafs).
He is better than Travis Boyd.
And of course, his cap hit is completely irrelevant, if you actually did some quick research you would find Nash is out until playoffs. This is a depth deal. A bigger deal is coming. Monday is going to be very fun.

Having a guy not playing any games for over a month isn't something I would want to inject in my playoff lineup, but that's just me

I think they probably try him out, but who knows.

There's a different between a franchise player like Kucherov and a 4th liner but ok

Nash does have over 500 games played, I don't think him rejoining in the playoff's is a massive detriment. If he sucks then they just don't play him. Just have to hope Columbus doesn't strike gold with that pick.

Also Kucherov will be playing with the same linemates and team that he's played with for the past few years. Nash is going to a new team and players he's never played with before. It's not the same.

Thing is, he will be rusty and you don't know what you will get. Winning or losing 1 game might be the different between winning or losing the series

I don't think Nash will be that much of a factor.

Looking back at Nash's 41 points in 2017-18, it's amazing how many players have career seasons as pending UFA's. Money does talk!
