Next Season Coleman Ullmark Laughton

Description
Imo this team is a cup contender. I can't see any glaring holes in this roster.

Forwards: The top six is elite, especially with Yamamoto and Puljujarvi hopefully taking a step forward. The third line is a good mix of goal scoring and defensive ability. To think that two seasons ago Kahun and Kassian would have been the best winger we had for mcdavid is crazy. The fourth line is also a good mix of goal scoring with benson and mcleod, but also a good defensive line with archibald and Mcleod being very good defensively.

Defence: The defense is a major step up from this year. Nurse and Bear is a good top pair, while Klefbom and Larsson can be an elite defensive pairing. Jones and Bouchard have played well together this year when given the opportunity so that is a great bottom pair.

Goaltending: The goaltending is also a major step up (despite smith playing well this year, I still don't trust him as a starter at all) with Ullmark being a good 1A goalie, and potentially a good starter, with Koskinen being a good 1B.

Future Outlook: I think Holloway gets half a year in Bakersfield to adjust. When he comes up we trade Kahun (or just scratch him) and play Holloway on the third line. The season after he will likely take Coleman's spot in the top 6. As for Broberg, I would still say he's at least a season away from playing in the NHL full time. When he's ready we either trade Jones or Klefbom. As for Lavoie or Marody, if they are ready to make the jump we trade/scratch kassian and they play on the third line.

I like the contracts and free agent targets.

Only concern is that goaltending tandem. I would not feel any better in that duo than I did when we entered this season. We gotta get a legitimate starter. I don't think Ullmark consistently that guy.

Can't see Laughton getting a paycut. He's pretty much equal to Coleman.

Also believe Jones is heading to Seattle over Lagesson.

I agree, I think the free agents would cost a little more but I would be more confident with a more qualified starter

Good point. I wouldn't be surprised if we buyout neal or trade koskinen for more cap space. I would be willing to pay Seattle to stay away from jones if that's what it takes, but if not Lagesson playing in Jones' spot isn't the end of the world.

Like the Ullmark signing he’s a sleeper definitely underrated, he’s put up decent numbers playing for a brutal sabres team his entire career.
