So $2M in eaten cap, and Brome, for a 3rd?

I think the Oilers would like to keep Archibald if they could. Not that it would void a Hall trade, but Archibald has been good. Throwing the body more than you’d expect for a guy his size too - he’s 5th in hits

Brome is likely back to Sweden next year. I'd trade him and eat 2m in cap for a 3rd easy.

I get Edmonton likes Archibald. But if I have to pick between keeping Archibald if it means I can't add Taylor Hall at 2m cap hit to my team? You'd be crazy!

Buffalo getting a B prospect, a 2nd and Archibald would be a good return for Hall. And likewise Edmonton giving that up + a 3rd would be good for them.

Yeah this doesn’t make sense either. Archibald is a great depth forward... and he has 3x as many goals than hall. Can you just pick a different team to trade for Hall?

I don’t hate the return for Detroit here at all, just wanted to make sure I got it correct!

I just think they’d rather send Haas if it’s just a warm body moving the other way

I agree with your logic overall but it's still just to much.

Good grief. Hall has over double the points of Archibald and this by far the worst year of his career. And Buffalo has a lot to do with it. Archibald is a pretty good depth forward at his best career potential. Hall is only three years removed from being a f***ing Hart Trophy Winner. You are mindbogglingly clueless if you'd reject this from an Oilers perspective.

It's to much. Most people think he's only going to fetch BUF a 2nd half retained. Adding one of their best depth forwards (which you also need for a deep playoff run) a B prospect and a third would be considered an overpayment from most people. Plus they know the player Hall is first hand. I think he definitely helps the team offensively. I'm also one of the fans that would love to have him back but only at the right price. And they can always take a run at him in the offseason
