Guhle and a 1st and all they have to show for it is a late 3rd. Botterill was an awful GM

No, but that's what I'm expecting.

I hate Advanced stats (I don’t think they tell the entire story, but) I think there is a Buffalo effect to his play though.

There is definitely a Buffalo effect behind Montour's defensive numbers.

100%.

Place him on a pairing with a stay at home defenceman and he could thrive in Florida.

This trade reminds me of when Peter Chiarelli traded Justin Schultz to Pittsburgh for a 3rd.

It’s a low risk, high reward trade. If he flops, he flops, it was only for a 3rd.

If he plays with Weegar, it could work but this means he plays against the best lines. Yandle? A nightmare in the d-zone. Could work with Gudas.

Fair price for Montour would have been a 2nd round pick, regardless of how late it is.

The first Montour trade with Anaheim as well as the Buffalo effect all need to be taken into account.

"Buffalo effect behind his numbers"

Then why does McCabe have such good numbers?

Montour isn't good and has never been good. Schultz was at least decent on the PP. Montour is useless on the PP.

Wish we got him. He would've been great as our 3rd RHD. Is this the final trade? All I've heard is that he's going to the Panthers. I still haven't heard what the package is.

Montour really started flying the last 10 games. I think the dude is super talented. Literal years of misuse by buffalo.
I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised by the production you get from him especially for a 3rd.
Even if you don't resign him I think the 3rd for the playoff push is well worth it.

If he's never been good, then why did Buffalo give a 1st to Anaheim for him in the first place?

Why do you think? Because he was young and they hoped he could turn into a top d man. They gambled on him getting better and they were wrong.

Ok, sounds about right. Happy to see him get out of BUF. I guess the Canes will maybe go for Walker, Stecher, Manson, or maybe even Savard for the right side.

I'm glad we are getting assets at least. Botterill would be buying instead of selling if he were still GM. Adams has a good head on his shoulders and if a 3rd was the best offer then I'm okay with that. Montour is a good skater and a pretty good guy, but he is BAD in his own zone

Just awful. Montour was brought in to play in housleys system, i bet he looks like a different player in florida, hes not good in his own end, but you can see the offense since granato took over. Hes 100% the guy that leaves here and looks better.

He was never played to his strength and that was his skating and an offensive D-man. Granato has given the D the green light not like the past regimes. I think he prospers in Florida.
