Eller and Oshie are really underrated, and could help Buffalo make the playoffs as long as Eichel is healthy and Dahlin is Dahlin. I see the logic.

A top-five pick in a weak draft and 3M in cap space under a flat cap should easily land Eller and Oshie. I think if Buffalo retained enough on Miller (with one year left), they might be able to talk WSH out of Vanecek on that. Would Buffalo protect Vanecek by leaving Ullmark unsigned until the last second? I'm not sure. But if Seattle claims Vanecek, Buffalo gets Mittelstadt.

Mittelstadt current 6 games stretch has him look almost as good as Olofsson, Olofsson has done it for 100 games. This is also next year not TDL

Well I just disagree, of course too small sample, but Mitts is better than Olofsson at ES. That is, of course, I do not want us to lose Olofsson or Mitts in the expansion draft and this can be easily avoided, which is why I said that your trades are pointless and a good GM would not do that.

The trades come after the expansion draft so it doesnt affect who they protect at all. I would rather lose mitts than Borgen as well. At this point it seems they lose Risto, Olofsson, Mitts, or Borgen. If Mitts is a point per game player through the end of the year then maybe id protect him, but they have nowhere to even play him, Cozens already superceded him. So maybe its best they move him now, while hes hot, so they get something in return

For all we know this team may be gutted this summer and rebuilt from the ground up. There's all the Eichel trade talk, now the Reinhart trade talk and Risto has been traded for how many years now. Jack and Sam can bring quite a haul of near NHL ready prospects and Risto more draft picks. Why waste these players careers when this team is going nowhere the next few years if not longer. No need to protect McCabe, he's a UFA and even if they resign him it will be after the expansion draft. If I'm not mistaken if he were to sign with Seattle if would count as a player taken from the Sabres but I could be wrong on that.

I think players like Mitts, Tage and Asplund are the direction the Sabres are going in. Let all the young guys grow together. Jack, Sam and Risto have been wasted. It's time to move on from them and start over again.

Free agency is after the expansion draft, i would protect Borgen anyway leaving McCabe exposed who would be safe with Mitts and Tage exposed. Reinhart trade rumors are dead, Eichel trade rumors only exist as click bait, and Risto may be moved but Adams seems keen on keeping him. Moving Risto i think lets Buffalo orotect everyone they need to though, but if it doesnt happen by monday, it becomes very unlikely. Theirs not going to be a major overhaul of the roster

Why do you say Reinhart trade rumors are dead, it's a draft time trade that teams start inquiring about now. Eichel will ask sooner or later to get out of dodge and I can't blame him. He is in the prime of his career and he sees McDavid and Matthews in the playoffs, he knows it's not happening anytime soon here. The more this team is in the hands of rookies the deeper the black hole gets.
