One of the only times someone has used the comparables to come to a cost for 2nd team retention on Hall. Congratulations, you rock.

This is all-around really smart. Getting a pick to retain part of Hall, extra picks to take on the Byron contract, getting a player on top of the 3rd rounder in a Janmark deal. I do think that 2 4ths is a little rich for Soda, I think we'd only get one but regardless. Everything checks out. The Subban thing only makes sense if you think he gets taken in the expansion draft, which I personally dont.

Absolutely not. Whatever value Connolly might have to you, Byron is worth more to the habs. And you’re saying the habs need cap space, while this deal does absolutely nothing to help in that regard.

Byron is 3.4 and weal is 1.4 mil its not a lot but still saving some dough. And Byron has been waived at least twice as far as I know so maybe not that important.

Eh, Oilers need a faceoff guy who's above 50%. Would take less to just get Glendening

Weal is only $325K against the cap. The habs only save $225K. And like you said, Byron can get sent to the taxi-squad to accrue cap space, not that it matters while Gallagher is on LTIR anyways.

With Gally out wouldnt it make sense to have a replacement to supplement scoring? Do you think MTL is a cup contender? I thought they would be but if you think they arent I understand why you dont like it.

I was saying that when Gallagher is out the habs have more cap space. And no the habs don’t need to replace Gallagher via trade. Armia will be back soon, and Poehling and Caufield are still in the AHL. We could add a Defenseman, and we have over $5 million in cap flexibility to do that.

Not replace gally but just have someone make up for the scoring lost. Just testing the waters and trying to understand your position.

The habs have so much depth at forward, we don’t really need anyone else. Caufield can obviously bring the goal scoring, and Armia is good for around 20 goals in a normal year. Plus it doesn’t really matter how much the habs win or lose before the playoffs, as long as they make the playoffs. (And Gallagher will be back at that point)
