Tampa overpayed, but who cares. They got a guy who may be their best right d.
The other two teams came out very well too.

Didn't realize how weak their right side is

I think sergachev may play the right side sometimes?

Cernak is good but has never been a big minute guy. He's essentially though progressing to be a Savard.

I gotta think long term sergachev is moved to the right or McDonough is traded.

then again David Savard contract only ends after this season so they lost nothing (unless you count Lashoff)

They lost cash. Not every team has $300-400k to purchase a pick. That's still a significant amount of money. Detroit is smart to flex the financial muscle

CBJ wins, they get a first and 3rd for a 2nd pairing Dman, if Tampa goes far in the playoffs they could win this deal too

Overpayment. Savard is not worth this much. But the cap dealing part was genius by Brisebois.

Ima say that this is an overpayment for now, but if TB once again wins the cup, that trade is going to look much better.

Detroit Red Wings:

Traded away a player that should have no trade value and who you might as well place on waivers.

Got a 4th round pick for retaining 1.062 million in salary when the Leafs got only a 5th round pick for retaining 1.1 million on Lehner.

Win for Detroit.

Columbus Blue Jackets:

Got a 1st round pick for the upcoming draft with no lottery protections attached + a 3rd round pick for ...

A 2nd/3rd pairing defenceman who is a pending UFA, who has regressed significantly from last year and who is on the wrong side of 30.

Bigger win for Columbus.

Tampa Bay Lightning:

Traded away a 1st round pick with no lottery protections + a 3rd + a 4th for ...

A player that should have no trade value and who you might as well place on waivers ...

And ...

A 2nd/3rd pairing defenceman who is a pending UFA, who has regressed significantly from last year and who is on the wrong side of 30.

All because Tampa can just barely stay under cap without circumventing it.

Big loss for Tampa.

In Jarmo we trust!

I voted for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

You might say the real losers in the deal are the 80,000 people who will have to eat a Little Caesars Hot and Ready pizza to come up with the $400k.

Win for CBJ, in that they they got a 1st round pick for a player I don't think is worth it. Not necessarily a loss for Tampa - they addressed a need and really screwed other teams needing defense, but that's just the reality of the situation.

Of course Detroit is really the biggest winner I suppose

Interesting from Seravalli: DET got a 4th for retaining almost identical money that Toronto retained last year on Lehner's deal to get a 5th. So the price has basically gone up 1 round in a year

Tbay is a Cup contender so there 4th Rd pick might be the last one before the 5th Rd starts, so in reality Tbay's 4th Rd pick is equal to a team who misses the playoffs 5th Rd pick, just like the Leafs missed the playoffs last year.

I know they are overwhelmingly against the Lightning but this is what I have to say about this if I'm a fan of Tampa:

1. Sometimes, you need to make a bad trade to help your team.

2. If you win the Stanley Cup and deliver profit to the shareholders, nothing else matters.

3. If trading away Wayne Gretzky means getting 15 million in cash plus a Stanley Cup win 2 years later, you do it every time.

Unfortunately, the issue at hand here is "who won the trade" and you're expected to give an instant reaction to it instead of waiting for who hoists the cup frown

Brisebois rn if he is checking Capfriendly and Twitter after the trade

Best comic book movie made by Disney Marvel Studios.

Can't wait for the sequel.

Joker's daughter.

Joker escapes Arkham after he is told that he has a daughter from his neighbor who he "made love to".

Movie ends with pre Batman Robert Battinson's Bruce Wayne kills the Joker infront of his daughter, sparking memories of his own parents death and thus sets Bruce to become the Batman and have the no killing rule. Also creates a villian, Joker's daughter, to be in The Batman movie sequel.

Oh...yea....Tbay's GM made a good move for a good chance to create a Dynasty of Cups.

so where are all those "Savard won't get a 1st " people tears of joy

I think the 3rd is equivalent to a B prospect.
CBJ got what they wanted and TB got what they wanted.
It's a fair trade.

Even if TB gave out a ( lowest of) 1st, Savard was worth a 2nd.

It's an overpayment to go for the cup. If they get eliminated in the first round, TB would get caught with their pants down.

This is like saying even though you make $6 an hour flipping burgers you're worth $30.

FOH, he got a 1st because he's worth a 1st.

It's not often that you see three teams win in the same deal

Tampa Bay:Overpaid for a 3rd pairing defender, but they are defending stanley cup champs and are better now than when they won.

Detroit: This is quite obvious, got a mid round pick for taking cap when they have boat loads.

Columbus: Got a very good pick and a decent pick for a 3rd pairing defender that was likely going to walk in FA

Bravo to all 3 GMs

He's a 2nd pairing D-man

I mean he plays 2nd pairing, doesn't mean that's where he should play

On a team like Tampa, he should be playing 3rd line

That's likely not going to net good results, but Tampa is so good I don't think it will affect things much

I mean when Rutta's back he, Foote, Savard, and Cernak can interchange. The LD is so good and none of those RD guys are terrible. Are D has been terrible recently though
