Description

With the Savard trade now done, I believe the market value for cap space has been set. Having Detroit take 1 million dollars cost a 4th. With that in mind I can see the Sharks picking up a lot of good value by facilitating a couple of trades and eating some cap. Sharks have about 11 million in deadline space I believe, and at this point if they retain half the cap on a Taylor Hall trade I could see them getting as high as a 2nd.

Amid pandemic with a flat cap, clearly the price has gone up a round for the same amount of money. Should all correspond from there.So for Taylor Hall, for instance, he makes exactly double Savard. Have to think it costs at least a 3rd just to help broker that deal if needed.

My memory is a little hazy, but I wonder if this has been done recently with 2 teams eating 50% salary in a 3-way trade. JBB and Yzerman might have just opened the flood gates.

Happened last year when Toronto retained some salary as the middle-man in the Lehner trade. But the price then was lower, just a 5th, as it was pre-covid and before teams knew that the cap isn't gonna go up for a while.

The Sabres can retain half, if SJ retains another half thats only 2 mill, if 1 mill = a 4th, 2 mill does not equal a 2nd

The Sharks should be all over a potential Hall deal, the value is just too much to pass up in this market.

I would love a third rounder right now. Plus a sixth or seventh for any of our fourth liners. That would really fill the prospect pool a little better

3rd is as high as I can see for someone like Hall for 2M but that would still be a nice return
