Laine probably doesn’t get traded unless it’s sizeable. They need a center, they likely ask for nico. Not worth it IMO.

We need young top 6 center coming back. (So Hughes or nico, which is t happening). If not we try and use him next season with a new coach and system. No reason for us to trade him this season. He’s not ufa.

Yeah, they have no right to ask for hischier. Jets got lucky to even get Dubois for laine. Honestly laines value now probably adds up to be like Zacha + Mercer + 2021 1st (not protected). If they want pick protection, then likely add bahl and a 3rd.

No chance CBJ moves him while his value is at his lowest. They’ll hold on to him, get a new coach and re explore the trade next year.

Columbus wants either Nico or Jack

No chance Devils trade either of them.

Devils have Holtz in the system who is basically a slightly worse version of Laine

    I don't see a trade being made

Value wise it seems fine but Devils or Jackets won't do it. Zacha, Mercer, and the defensemen (with the first) would all be more valuable to the Devils rather than Laine based on the fact that we have Holtz in the pipeline. I doubt Columbus wants to trade him right now and if they do I think they would get better offers

Not sure how Jets managed to have a positive outcome with two awful situations in Trouba and Laine. Seems like they are happy with how the move went. Dubois hasn’t been amazing, but he’s been a lot more consistent and light years better defensively. Is it safe to say that both teams kind of lost in the Laine and Dubois deal?

Agree for sure. No need for NJ to make that trade, considering they’re not close to competing yet. Holtz IMO is going to be just as good as laine, just not as big and physical.

Yup. Also, Holtz would have great chemistry with Devils players such as Zacha and Bratt since they all train together.

Exactly. I’m hoping NJ jumps to 2nd overall pick. Would love to see them get Luke Hughes.

Really would hate to see Devils in on Laine
If he were the one piece remaining between the current roster and contention, maybe
But we need our young depth.

You’re not wrong. But for The Shift, CBJ likely would’ve held onto Dubois for a bit longer, fished around for the right deal.
