Getting greedy

Description
Savard trade has me licking my lips..

I think NJ is making out on these value wise but I also think CBJ committed a heist today. Savard might have a bit of a longer resume but I'd argue Kulikov and Murray have been as good or better this season so if your team is a legitimate Cup contender and the market dictates high value you might go for it.

I doubt Kulikov has that much value but I hope he does

yeah, that's quite optimistic, no team is giving you 1st rounders for bottom pairing defenders

I think both Kulikov and Murray could get 2nd or 3rd picks alone or decent prospect. But but that is about as optimistic as it gets.

Ya, Boston laughs pretty hard at that.

Trade you a 3rd and Moore for Butcher. That’s about it.

No chance Kulikov gets a 1st, Murray may if someone's desperate but more likely a 2nd and 3rd. I could see Kulikov getting a 3rd and conditional 3rd that could turn into a 2nd maybe. Miles Wood is fantastic, I feel like I'd want to keep him around.

I doubt you'll get a 3rd for Kulikov. A 4th may be unlikely. He's a 7th defenceman

Fair enough. NJ laughs pretty hard at that counteroffer.

Neither of us will follow through on it but I would bet a rather large sum you won't get a 2nd for Kulikov. A 3rd would surprise me.

Im certainly taking a liberal approach here I don't actually expect them to both return 1st round pick value. But the Savard deal has to raise eyebrows. Sometimes the NHL market drives itself to a crazy spot. My expectation is still a 2nd or 3rd for each player but I'm more optimistic about a return than I was a day ago.

Ha true more of a gentlemen's bet. I feel strongly with what has been reported that he will go for a 3rd. I think a 2nd is possible. If he returned a first I might get a noise complaint from my neighbors celebrating that highway robbery. I dont think he's necessarily worth a 2nd but he has been extremely good this year and the Savard trade might have just set the market up to be way too high for middle pair defensemen. One way or another we will know in less than 48 hours.

Yeah this is meant to be a stretchhh but the Savard trade today was a bit suprising. I've watched a ton of CBJ games this year and just about every Devils game and imo Kulikov has been as good or better. Not expecting him to return a 1st and 3rd (I still don't understand how that happened) but the optimistic part of me is excited by that deal. Yesterday I would have said I expect a 3rd, hope for a 2nd and could live with a 4th. Today I think I'd bump those expectations up one round. We'll see.

The difference between Moore and Butcher is more than a 3rd. Devils wouldn’t do that. Maybe Ahcan and 3rd. Or Berglund

Not in a buyer's market. For example he wouldn't play unless someone got hurt in TO. That isn't worth a 3rd in this market. I bet he falls to a 4th or a 5th. Savard was still highly regarded as a playoff warrior. Kulikov is not that

NJ doesn't have any more interest in Moore than they do in Butcher who currently can't crack the lineup. Also his contract goes one year longer than Butchers, which is a major negative for a player you are not interested in. I included him in this (admittedly convoluted) trade as a negative and a salary dump to give Boston room for Murray and Wood. I'd imagine NJ has zero interest in him as an actual player, and an extra 3rd round pick in an underscouted draft is not going to outweigh that.

Pass then, Butcher sucks. You should be happy to get a 3rd, wouldn't give it to you straight up. Buyout Moore you save 3m in cap and open a roster spot next year. Otherwise keep him and sit him in the pressbox all season again. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Was doing you a favor. I’ll take the extra 1m in cap for 1 less year, and it least he’s healthy. But i’m just going to try to push him on Seattle at years end or dump him for a late pick.
