no thanks. hughes/clarke/edvy would be huge for our defensive progression. don't need forwards right now.

True ... Need those picks (and Severson) to build the Blueline. Its already paper thin ... even with Severson.

NJD better keeping that stuff.

Vancouver could probably just take Hughes with their pick if they want him

May slide, but I doubt it. Guess it depends on prognosis on foot.

I'm happy as long as one of NJ or Van gets Luke so there can be 2 hughes' on a team.

NJ fans keep thinking D, but Im starting to wonder ... Fitzgerald may have a more narrow field of blueliners (would he pass on Edvinsson or Power?)... if Fitz doesn't see Clarke or Hughes, I wouldn't be surprised if Guenther or Johnson goes to NJ instead. Curveball coming early, then add to D later with the two NYI picks.

i agree but would see the opposite. wouldn't be surprised if a player like oskar olausson drops to 20s, fitz could snag him.
truly think this team is one high end d prospect away from being a future dynasty

I want Hughes or Clakre. I want the brotherly connections. I would be shocked if we go forward. The only possible forward I could see us going for is Eklund

100% no to trade above.
We have to keep Severson and all our 1sts.

Assuming we picking between #5 and #8...and #24-28
I'd love Power, Edvinsson and Hughes with 1st pick and offensive winger with 2nd.

1. Owen Power
2. Simon Edvinsson
3. Luke Hughes
4. Matty Beniers
5. Dylan Guenther
6. William Eklund
7. Aatu Raty
8. Chaz Lucius
9. Corson Ceulemans
10. Fabian Lysell
11. Cole Sillinger
12. Jesper Wallstedt
13. Samu Tuomaala
14. Sasha Pastujov
15. Kent Johnson
16. Brandt Clarke
17. Oskar Olausson
18. Simon Robertsson
19. Stanislav Svozil
20. Matt Coronato
21. Carson Lambos
22. Isak Rosen
23. Mackie Samoskevich
24, Zach Bolduc
25. Nikita Chibrikov
26. Xavier Bourgault
27. Ayrton Martino
28. Zach Dean
29. Logan Stankoven
30. Dylan Duke
31. Zachary L'Heureux
32. Sean Behrens

I hear this a lot from Devils fans "don't need forwards". meanwhile the team is 25th in goals for...

I wouldn't see that as a curveball at all, in fact it's similar to my thinking. Edvinsson might have high upside but he feels like the biggest project in the top 15, NJ blew a 1st rounder on a project LD last year and I don't think they'd do it again. Power is okay but definitely overrated due to his size, he's not good defensively and playing on Michigan makes him look better than he is.

I would be doing everything possible to land Clarke if I'm NJ, if not I'd be fine with Hughes, Eklund, or Guenther.

We have prospects like Holtz, Foote, and Mercer that can score. We need scoring right now but in 1-2 years we will have that scoring. We need defensemen more than forwards. Half of our defense will be UFAs and we really don't have too many good defensive prospects

Spare me. 55 point center Nico Hischier isn't pushing the needle much, they might be 22nd in goals for if he was healthy this year.

Whoa.
Mukhamadullin, a KHL regular at 18, is a project?
And Brant Clarke is ...what?
Have you seen Clarke play?
It’s an undisciplined, sloppy mess.
He is about as big a project as there is (among 1st rounders)

At this point I can't tell if you're joking or not.

Yes, A large defenceman who hasn't filled out his frame, frequently makes poor decisions with the puck, often loses defensive coverage, and who many people had on their do not draft list, is indeed a project. Almost to the tee in fact. It is a widespread belief that he has a ton to work on before becoming a serviceable NHLer.

Clarke is already more refined and better positionally, his decisions with the puck are far better as well.

Not joking at all
Clarke is further from NHL level than Muk is.
He is very raw, undisciplined.
Plays similar style to Subban.

muk is a better pick than many (including myself) originally thought. solid #3 defensemen.
clarke is good just a bit poor with his control on the game
