Walking laine one step closer to FA is an interesting idea. He takes that, goes to arbitration and scoots on into FA.

No need for arb. A 2 year contract walks Laine directly to UFA.

If Laine signs in CBJ can't see it being longer than 1 year, OP.

Forgot about this. Wonder what they'll do then. This would be the year to lock him up but I'm not sure they would be keen to do that with the year he's having.

He was looking for big money from the Jets when they chatted about an extension before he was traded. I think he's very likely to sign his QO and try to bounce back
