Chicago always starts asking high in negotiations. They ask for a 2nd now and end up settling for a late 3rd or early 4th. But they likely won't get a 2nd for a bottom 6 forward. Also, you're prospect value here is all over the place: you go from wanting a C- prospect (at best) from Pittsburgh and Boston, to a B+/A- prospect from Toronto, to an already established roster player from Colorado. A bidding war wouldn't drive the price up that much. Toronto walks away because they wouldn't move Niemela straight up for Janmark. Colorado walks away because it's a lateral move on the ice but they lose the age and contract control part of it.
