U already have him in LTIR and it's still -$5,474,741.

You clearly don't,
in this case the Leafs get Dubinsky before the other moves and then place him on LTIR because he could first fit under our cap,
This gives the Leafs $5.325M more to use than the $5.8M

Capfriendly doesn't show it

no, in the capfriendly ACGM's it just subtracts the LTIR cap-hit money from the team cap hit. You cant take dubinsky and put him on LTIR, get his salary subtracted from the caphit AND get to exceed the cap hit by the same amount. You wouldnt be able to get 10 million dollars in capspace for putting one 5 million dollar player on LTIR

I'm... pretty sure LTIR doesn't work that way. If it did we'd be happy to do that, but...

(Well, okay. We'd ask for a 1st in the Foligno trade instead of one of those other picks. But otherwise...)
