Trades options to upgrade the Team

Created by: treemos27
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 11, 2021
Published: Apr. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Biggest areas/ people that I believe the Leafs should upgrade:

1) Forward / Thornton (2 points in his last 19gp)

2) A reliable 1B goaltender to tandem with Campbell ( If Freddy is done )

3) Depth D. Depends how we feel about Liljegren, Sandin, Marincin as our next options. Personally would consider paying some mid picks for a solid bottom pairing guy even if he only pushes Dermott/Bogo and is insurance on our top 6 D

Well this cap won't work. And having 6 players parachuted onto the team doesn't usually work.

Too many conditions. Buffalo just trades a hall for a 2nd elsewhere, and a 3rd for ullmark somewhere else

The CBA doesn’t allow for conditions based on whether a player Re-signs. Stop it.

Andersons $5M LTIR is more valuable to the Leaf's than Ullmark.

Leaf's can make that deal with picks and keep Anderson on LTIR until he playoffs

Did they change that? Clifford had that condition last year when the leaf's got him.

Multiple teams have offered a first round draft pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for veteran forward , according to TSN Senior Hockey Reporter Frank Seravalli.

Ok. I didn't know that changed. Not sure why "stop it" is required.

Buff secures a 1st rounder + the conditions on other picks...
      Far better return than a 2nd and a 3rd.

Not sure if you're joking haha.
The Leafs would make 1 of these trades, not all of them. I was laying out some different scenarios

Interesting. Didn't know that. I'd take that and run if I was CLB. A 1st rounder for Foligno is a steal

Oh. I thought the first was conditional based in the state conditions.

In that case sign me up.

Glad to help inform, I just see a lot of posts here with conditional picks based on re-signing. It gets obnoxious when you end up saying the same thing so many times and no one listens.

Was there any rationale as to why they changed the rule?

My guess is it was something the NHLPA asked for. Or simply a mutually agreed upon change that benefits both teams and players. I’m sure there were teams that elected not to re-sign a player or 2 due to additional compensation.

      Calle Rosen: don't forget me!

✔ better scorer than Esa Lindell in the AHL
✔ nearly a decade of pro experience
      ✔ versatile af

They're so loaded for depth D it's bonkers even Duszak and Kivihalme would probably be okay in a pinch and Sandin/Liljegren are both NHL quality but Dubas insisted on having the most depth an NHL team has ever had so the depth chart is skewed

      Unnecessarily rude comment

      Why include the "stop it"

Yeah it's pretty sobering with Jumbo I feel like if he had regular linemates for the entire year he'd be at like 4 total points honestly 😕 the end is nigh

Father time catches up to everyone. Joe is like 42 years old, it had to happen sometime. Toronto isn’t winning the cup, but if they were he would still get his name on it even if he doesn’t play in the playoffs.
