You'd move on from Foote so soon?

Can't afford him in this scenario. Would want to trade him for more though. 2nds, and a 3rd is what i'd ask. Or a 1st and a 3rd

I don't know a ton about Foote but I think NJ accepts? offence hasn't translated much to the NHL this year but I like his size and mobility

I think Colton is the one we're not going to be able to afford. Foote we can probably get for 2 years <$1million.

Colton has way out performed Foote so you may be right about that. Plus we have Stephens who is a good 4th line center so we may be able to trade Colton and insert Stephens while resigning Foote. I just haven’t been very impressed with Foote so far but he is still young.

Foote was essentially bumped from the playoffs yesterday when we traded for Savard. Our RHD depth will probably be Cernak, Savard, Rutta, and then Schenn if we play 11F/7D. There's still some raw ability with Foote, so, I don't think it's time to move on from him.

Colton might also appreciate a bigger center role elsewhere than our 4th line. I think he's in the package that gets Johnson to Seattle, especially if he puts in a good playoff performance.

I see a mutual fit with Foote and NJ. Seems to make sense. NJ could offersheet him and just pay a 2nd but I think they'd be willing to go thru a trade and give a bit extra as a courtesy and to keep a good relationship with Brisbois.

NJ certainly accepts, but if it were an ideal world, I would rather you just let the devils finally overpay TBL for sergachev. you guys are still way above the cap regardless of whether foote makes 1 mil or 5 mil. you can save 5 mil with sergachev right now, and not have to worry about two years from now when he will be worth 7-8 millioneither.

youre practically paying us for foote in this situation, while in a sergachev trade, the devils would probably give you guys at least 1 first rounder and 2-3 B+ or A- prospects such as Foote or Boqvist.

That’s true. But with the eventual decline/departure of McD, I doubt the bolts have any intent or interest in trading Sergy. Foote will likely end up staying in Tampa simply because of need, but in regards to Sergachev he will most certainly be staying in Tampa unless 1. They are absolutely forced to trade him because of cap reasons or 2. The return is significant and considered an overpay.

Just trade Rutta for an ELCer ✔

    Then:

Hedman Cernak | McD Serg | Foote Carrier

The young 3rd pair gets sheltered out the whazoo

Any short term downgrade from Rutta to Foote (that may be nonexistent just next season) is worth hanging on to a promising cost controlled 23 year old

For that to happen the organization is gonna need to gain some trust with Foote that is currently not there. He was essentially just replaced with the Savard trade for the rest of this year and he’s gonna need to take some more steps if he wants to prove he can play in the NHL (simply working on his speed would help)
