Not out of him not wanting to come back, but hell command too much on the open market and we have a solid right side guy waiting in the wings for next season playing huge minutes in The ahl

to be fair these will be late 1sts (late 20's to potentially last pick in R1) and this draft year kind of sucks as with little scouting and covid running around 2021 is slated to be one of the worst draft years making picks less valuble to teams, especially competitive ones wanting Stanley. So meh who cares

who knows maybe foloingo will extend here things can change

That's basically the same logic the Tampa fanbase used to justify the Savard trade.

Funny enough, the structures of both trades are nearly identical.

Yes I know I don’t think it’s that bad (although still a slight overpay) , I just know a lot of leaf fans didn’t want foligno and were excited for other teams to give up a 1st for him. He’s a good player.

CBJ needed a win this year at TDL, they got it.
Having 3 1st will help get this team back up again. It's just going to take some time.

Same can be said about Savard, but at the end of the day, a win is a win.

I think the Jackets won this trade, but IF and thst is a big IF the leafs win it all, it’s a great trade for both teams

they already won the trade, if they want to re-sign an over the hill guy to an extension that's not changing anything

for what he brings a 1st is fine. Leadership, grit, skill and can play at both ends some fans just want that shiny toy in Hall

but honestly would rather have a workhorse than an overhyped guy

If Toronto wins the cup this year, who cares if Foligno re-signs in Columbus or not. Then it's a complete win for Toronto.

That's the exact thing Tampa said about the Savard trade.

It's called being a cup contender. & I'd Thayer be in that spot that missing the playoffs. A late 1st round pick does nothing to help you for for 3-5 years. Not that big of a loss

If they both re-sign, we basically got two 1st rounders for free. What a charitable act by TOR and TB.
