it's bit of an overpayment yes but the fact that it cost tampa more fore savard than toronto for foligno is laughable.

I think the SJS part is the most intriguing. They send a guy at 925k over, to take on 1.375. So for like 450k they get a 4th.

Really interesting how they view the value of a 4th round pick.

I just don't think Foligno is worth a 1st round pick even in a weaker draft class in 2021

What a way for Columbus to start a rebuild. Already three 1st rounders for this year.

Draft class kinda crap this year though, probably the reason many 1st will be given this year.

If Foligno is worth a 1st round pick, then Hall is worth a 0th round pick

good add, more grit leadership, and skill

when everyones healthy I see

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Chucky-Tavares-Nylander
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Folingo
Simmonds-Throton/Nash-Spezza

Dont know if Dubas is done as I still think we need a goalie but meh Monday could yield surprises

I know getting there first playoff series win was important but now I just wonder what it would have been like if CBS traded Panarin/ Bobrovsky instead of going all in.

Hey I've been doing quite some analysis and I think that there are some really good options out there, especially for a team like the Blue Jackets. The later rounds will be weaker though.

Hall should've been traded by now and I'm concerned the "ask" is totally unrealistic. I think there's a chance it'll go right down to the wire with BUF settling for pennies on the dollar.

I haven't looked very much, just heard around. Really interested to see what this draft brings though.

Heard about an hour ago, that some teams have come close to being final, though I think it's unlikely we hear anything tonight.

The Leafs clearly overpaid here.

But I think this was still a good move by Dubas. Foligno brings an aspect the Leafs are missing on offense.

Columbus wins based on value alone, but Foligno is a guy you want to have in the playoffs.

This is basically a copy and paste from what I said about the Savard trade with some exceptions.

San Jose Sharks:

Traded away a player that should have no trade value and who you might as well place on waivers.

Got a 4th round pick for retaining 1.375 million in salary when the Leafs got only a 5th round pick for retaining 1.1 million on Lehner.

However, Detroit got a 4th pick for retaining just 1.062 million.

A win for San Jose but not as big as the win by Detroit from the Savard trade.

Columbus Blue Jackets:

Got a 1st round pick for the upcoming draft with no lottery protections attached + a 4th round pick for ...

A bottom six forward who is a pending UFA, who has regressed significantly from last year and who is on the wrong side of 30.

And, according to Aaron Portzline of the Athletic, good chance Foligno re-signs with the Jackets in the offseason.

Much bigger win for Columbus.

Toronto Maple Leafs:

Traded away a 1st round pick with no lottery protections + two 4ths for ...

A player that should have no trade value and who you might as well place on waivers ...

And ...

A bottom six forward who is a pending UFA, who has regressed significantly from last year, who is on the wrong side of 30 and who might re-sign with the team that traded him away.

All because Toronto can just barely stay under cap without circumventing it.

Big loss for Toronto.

In Jarmo we trust!

I voted for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Love the target, do NOT love the price. Dubas overpaid for a rental. This years playoffs had better be great for Toronto, luckily, Foligno will help with that.

It may seem like a ton. But this is the kind of guy that can steady a team when things aren't going well.

The kinda guy Toronto lacked against Boston a few years ago. Great add!

Easy Win for the Leafs! Toronto didn’t have to give up any prospects whatsoever, gave up draft picks that have pretty much no use to them now, got good players, and fit it under the cap. Dubas is a genius.

It'd be much harder for the Leafs to not make the playoffs at this point.

Jarmo has been making out like a bandit this deadline. Absolutely ridiculous that he got 2 1sts, a 3rd, and a 4th for Foligno and Savard as rentals.

Jarmo also had his own rental spree at the 2019 deadline.

Giving up:

Round 1 Pick (2019)
Round 1 Pick (2020)
Round 2 Pick (2020)
Round 2 Pick (2021)
Round 3 Pick (2017) - John Davidsson)
Round 3 Pick (2016) - Vitaly Abramov)
Round 3 Pick (2013) - Anthony Duclair)
Round 4 Pick (2019)
Round 5 Pick (2022)
Round 7 Pick (2019)

For rentals:

Adam McQuaid
Matt Duchene
Ryan Dzingel
Keith Kinkaid

While rejecting:

Round 1 Pick (2019)
Round 1 Pick (2020)
Round 2 Pick (2021)

To keep Panarin as a rental.

It's just the cycle of life bro

Foligno is a great add. But I fully agree it was too much. Jarmo now has 3 firsts in the coming draft, for trading decent rentals.

to bad this draft year is meh (full of unknowns) and columbus does not have the best drafting record. Still 1-2 of these 1st picks could end up being something in 4-5 years

Still a lot of potential for Columbus to completely fleece Tampa and Toronto.

not really, low 1sts are meh to competitive teams, they dont care for them, what matters is winning and both teams want insurance for a long run so who cares. Toronto nor Tampa has need for any more prospects at this point

1st round hurts to pay but I'd rather pay the 1st then one of our top prospects.
