I'd say this is a fair deal. Rittich is a fringe backup goalie that will be a good stopgap for the Leafs. Flames get a decent pick for a fringe goalie.

Thought they might look at Forsberg as a value add but this definitely fits the bill as well.

Great deal for the Leafs. An added bonus is that Rittich won't have to isolate for 7 days like Foligno.

As for trade value...Lehner got 2nd. Not half bad for a far worse goalie.

This is a very fair trade, but if you were to take a winning side Leafs won this all the way, solid move by Dubas, next up a D-Man.

If he wasn't good with Calgary's defence, TML fans should start to hate him sooner than later...

Last Tuesday, I made an ACGM post titled "What Calgarys pending UFAs are worth."

I believed, and still believe, Rittich is worth a 5th round pick.

I used the Devan Dubnyk and Keith Kinkaid trades as comparables, which was a comment that received several likes.

In this trade, Calgary is getting a draft pick that is roughly 50-60 spots higher than what it should be.

That's a win for Calgary.

I voted for the Calgary Flames.

Leafs team D is significantly better than Calgary

They should re-sign Rittich as a backup for Campbell instead of re-signing Andersen again.

Both teams get something of value. Flames get rid of a pending UFA who could walk for nothing for a pick in a stacked draft and Toronto gets a backup

LOL

Leafs GA 105 (Tampa 100, for context)
Flames GA 123 (Van 119, Det 138, for added context)

You sir, look silly for laughing.

Hahahahaha are you seriously using goals against?!?

And who was in goal for those Calgary's goals against?

You got it, Vezina trophy finalist, David Rittich.

Let's be fair, a goalie is needed NOW rather than a week from today. I'm sure that's why they didn't rob Columbus of Korpisalo (sp) because he would have to wait with Nick.

It's a measure of team D, not solely on the goalie. Your laughter is seriously misplaced..

Expensive #3 Goalie if/when Freddy returns. But, if you're gonna go all in, go all in!

My thinking as well.

Nothing that would come back to bite the Leafs, but if Dubnyk could be had for a 5th, a 3rd for Rittich seems a tad bit pricey.
