Reilly keeps upgrading.

First he was worth a 5th. Then he was worth a 5th+AHL player. Now he's worth a 3rd.

Watch Bruins re-sign him and move him for a 3rd+AHL player next year.

and next you know jim benning signs him to a 12 year 13M contract

they are on the bottom of the waiver wire so less chance of getting him. Have a feeling Detroit, Ottawa, or some other team out of the playoffs will claim him

for sure. then they use him as trade bait tmrw for a 4th.

I say Ottawa wins this. I find Rielly as an overrated Top 6 IMO.

I voted this as a Sens win, but honestly it's pretty much bang on even value.

I see a lot of people writing off Reilly's whole season as him just being a product of how good Artyom Zub has been, and while there's definitely evidence to suggest that Zub has elevated Mike Reilly's game this season, Reilly deserves a majority of the credit. Mike Reilly has driven offense from the back end at a really high level his entire time in Ottawa, and that includes the 45 or so games he played before Zub had even played one game. The difference came in the his defensive play with and without Zub. Before Zub he was a bad defensive player prone to massive brain melting mistakes (though even at his worst that first month of the season he was still only like their 4th biggest problem defensively), and once he had Zub he really steadied out substantially in his own zone. It's easy to attribute it all to Zub, but Reilly improved his game on his own too, and definitely deserves more credit.

I don't think he's an everyday day top 4 guy, but I think he's a very talented offensive D, who does more good than bad, and is more than capable of being a stand in top 4 guy.

Not a bruins fan by no means, but is this the best they can do especially when Mcavoy and Grelzyk both IR atm.

If you remember me from the GM Game, you'll remember that I do not like Mike Reilly. I get that the Bruins have tons of injuries, but I think they could've paid a little less here. Moreover, given that they can fit Reilly under the cap, they probably could've fit Vatanen as well.

I'd expect a 4th or 5th for him. Overpayment by the Bruins.

Looking back this looks pretty good for Boston but it’s a true victory if Reilly re-signs

It's definitely a risky contract. Reilly was a bad #6 defensmen two years ago.

BOSTON wins.

Do they though? They got Eliminated in the 2nd round and Reilly is a UFA, let's see what he gets paid first.

they got eliminated in the 2nd round because of injuries not because of reilly. Reilly gave this team a massive boost when he came over from the sens.

But it doesn't make a difference. They were expected to make a run with or without Reilly. If they lose him for nothing than how did they win the trade? It's one of those trades where it's hard for either team to win.

they really needed a puck moving dman outside of grz and mcavoy on that backend. idk how much you watched the bruins but they might not have made the playoffs without reilly tbh. he was difference maker in the regular season and helped get them to the playoffs. he wasnt great in the playoffs but we also had a bottom 4 of rielly, lauzon, tinordi, and clifton to close out the islanders series. so i mean only so much you can do once your defensive depth is forced to play meaningful minutes. its not like they dealt a 1st round pick, they dealt a future 3rd. its such a meh return either way. but i think the bruins got more value out of reilly in the last month of the season+ than the bruins would get out of a 3rd rounder next year. they havent exactly drafted well with sweeneys group.
