Ducks were asking for a first and a top prospect. Unless you think caps are moving mcmichael, probably should look elsewhere.

Retention and take back Panik. That's not really looking....
Sabres were looking for a 1st and a top prospect for Hall. Caps should have been looking for a top center prospect for Siegenthaler. It's a buyer's market.
Did a Buffalo fan seriously come here to question the value of Richard Panik's contract? He's got one more point than Skinner, in similarly small ice time, at less than a third of the cost. He also hits more, he's bigger, and some years he kills penalties. Is it a great contract? No. It's a slightly below average value one, this year, that could easily bounce back if he gets more ice time next year.
Could the Caps throw in some kind of prospect? Yes. They have some of those. But Anaheim fans have already said they don't need any of the Caps' prospects, and would prefer picks. This seems like a reasonable offer to start from. Is there a chance WSH has to add a 4th? Most years, sure. This year? We'll see.
Personally, I think the Caps score enough goals and need Panik's checking unless they can swap him for another faceoff specialist, but if the team is looking for even more offense, they'll certainly be fun to watch, and this looks like a good way to get there.
