We've all been saying it for years, the players have been griping about it for years, and how many coaches have been fined for it in the past half decade?

If the NHL is remotely serious about growing the sport, consistency from both the refs and player safety should be a given. I think both get a serious look this offseason. It's been a farce for far too long.

McDavid now at 93 points. 16 periods left in the regular season. I'm sure he's thinking 105, not 100.

Yep, the Tim Peel incident confirmed what we all thought about refs and now a blatant long suspension is a fine showing the Do”PS” doesn’t care and both need to have major changes.

True, problem seems to be that they want to keep fighting and rough hockey but don't know what to call bad or good fighting...it's not good for the sport at all.

The Rangers will apparently call up Mason Geertsen for the sole reason of playing agaisnt the Caps. tonight's game should be intersting to watch

On a more positive note, this is Mason Geertsen's moment to shine and make his mark. Sort of like Tie Domi did in his first few years in the league....

Ghost will get a hearing for his cross check on defenceman Mark Friedman yesterday, is it dangerous yes but so was Tom Wilson's and he didn't even get a hearing

Today’s clinching scenarios:

If Winnipeg loses in any fashion and Montréal loses in any fashion, Edmonton will clinch home ice in the 1st round.

If Winnipeg wins in regulation, they clinch a playoff spot.

If Calgary loses in regulation and Montréal gets a point or if Calgary loses in any fashion and Montréal wins in any fashion, Calgary will be officially eliminated from the playoffs.

If Nashville wins in any fashion and Dallas loses in regulation, the Predators will clinch a playoff spot and the Stars will be eliminated.

If Arizona loses in regulation or St. Louis wins in any fashion or Arizona loses in any fashion and St. Louis gets a point, the Coyotes will be officially eliminated from the playoffs.

If LA loses in regulation and St. Louis wins in regulation, the Kings will be officially eliminated from the playoffs.
