I just realized it's only 2.6 Million. It's really not that bad

Yeah the whole cap hit would be bad, regardless of how well he’s playing, but at 50% retained, this trade looks really good so far.

Carter's been terrible for the past few seasons, the fact LA got draft picks back for him is a massive win for them. Pittsburgh continues to trade picks for over the hill veterans. This takes the cake for the worst trade thus far in this trade deadline.

So this trade "takes the cake for the worst trade thus far in this trade deadline", but Carter has scored more goals than anyone traded at the deadline. HAHAHAHAH your take was so horrible

In his defence, he wasn’t aware of the 50% retention. That’s a key component as to why the trade was so great. If Carter was at his full cap hit, it would’ve looked like a really bad trade at the time

Prove to me why it was a good pickup? Hindsight is great. Carter was a washed 36 YO center coming over here with term on his contract. It was a bad trade. Now you're saying it's a bad take after 13 games. Relax

Ya I said it was a bad take after 13 games, but you called it the worst trade at the deadline after carter playing 0 games. And I don’t have to prove anything, carter is proving you wrong himself.

You have to prove that he was actually a good player when Pittsburgh traded for him. Stop using Hindsight when it's not possible at the time of the trade. Pittsburgh overpaid for him for the player he was in LA. It's as simple as that.

They gave up nothing for a position of need lmao. Your take was horrible and extremely wrong. Maybe you should wait for players to lace up the skates before you make stupid comments like that

They gave up a 3rd + 4th for a presumed 3rd/4th line center with term on his contract. My take was correct and you've done nothing to prove it wrong (besides using hindsight)

It was never a bad trade at all… you just didn’t know the context of the retention. The trade was always good from the start.

Dude you’re digging yourself into a hole again…

If you just admit that you were unaware of the retention, then no problem. But you’re dying on this hill that pens overpaid and Carter was washed up and those two statements are so wrong. Even on LA he was on pace for nearly 20 goals and 40 points playing with zero help. That type of production for a 3rd and 4th at 2.5 million is good value lol

His analytics were terrible and he's 36. Yes I was wrong, but quit pretending like you knew Carter would be this good.

His analytics weren’t even bad somebody already debunked you on that LMAO. It was low risk, high reward, and clearly it’s paid off thus far.

Someone literally posted his metrics from EW and they were very fine for a 2.6 million player LMAO

Clearly you don’t LMAO. For a 2.6 million player and a cost of a 3rd and 4th, they were absolutely fine analytics. Just keep digging yourself in that hole.

I gave you a pass when you said you didn’t know about the retention, but that pass is now gone lmfao

lmao carter is 11 in 14 with the pens. don't think they were expecting that from him.

think pittsburgh wins unless los angeles gets some decent guys with the picks, although carter wasn't going to accomplish anything else in los angeles.

He's not. You just won't admit you are wrong because you didn't see the 50% retention. It's all good, just please stop trying to defend your previous stand because it's wrong.
We all get trades wrong. I said the Sam Bennett trade was horrible and that aged like milk.

It’s good for both teams. Only way it backfires on the Kings is if Carter retires and they’re stuck with that nasty recapture penalty

The Kings would be stuck with some recapture whether he retires as a Pen or King. Gee playing with the first place Pens, Carter may want to continue playing.

No there isn’t. Just extremely funny you called this trade the worst at the deadline, and still tried to defend yourself when you were proved wrong

I thought he was done. He looked terrible on LA and to this day I don't think he was worth this much, but it paid off for Pittsburgh in spades so well done to whatever scout scouted him
