This Kings Team isn't the best, but I see potential. I do like the amount of cap space we have, so that won't be a problem. Turcotte and Byfield Stay In The AHL for most of the Year, 15 Games Left They Are Called Up.

Leafs have about 2 mil cap space right now. Accommodating Dermott as a scratch rather than waiving him won't be an issue.

He'll likely be the expansion draft casualty.

If Dermott was waived, several basement-dwelling teams would have to pass on him before LA was eligible to claim him. I wouldn't put Dermott in the lineup over Clague, even if the Kings were able to get him somehow.

Now that you've traded Quick for nothing, you've now lost Petersen to Seattle since you have no other goaltender to expose in the expansion draft. Matt Villalta is your starting goaltender next season.

If you do trade Quick for some reason (very unlikely), you better get significantly more than a 4th in return if you're retaining $5M in salary.

problaby, I still believe that he can turn his career around and he'll get more opportunities as a King.

The required exposed goalie have much lower requirements than other positions. You can expose one of your junior goalies and protect Petersen.

Expansion is before FA I think, so he still can be picked, but SEA would have to resign

But why would you do that? You've now traded away Quick but still have to pay half his contract and all you've gotten in return is a 4th round pick? Why not just hold on to Quick and let him back up Petersen? I could see this making sense for the Kings if a team was willing to take his entire contract, but as shown it doesn't make any sense.

All teams have to expose a goaltender under contract for the 2021-22 season.

sensibly yes, reality no, GMS don't care about retained salary as much as you think, 4+7 rd pick is like the value of a mid round 3 imo
