Tampa could have had Claesson for free by claiming him off waivers.

For that reason, Claesson has no trade value but somehow, the Sharks get a goalie prospect out of all this.

Magnus had to beat out Alnefelt eventually to see the NHL with us, so, no real loss here. I like it for Tampa.

I voted for the San Jose Sharks.


Perhaps the next time a Lightning player at risk of being claimed is on waivers SJ won't be claiming him. Business is business, but it helps to have friends.

I think it’s obviously a deal that both teams wanted, so I don’t think TBL can or are a loser - but a young prospect who’s not bad for a older 7th-8th D man is a good minor move for the Sharks

I'll say Sharks by a hair here for getting a decent Goalie prospect out of depth piece. Nothing too crazy for either team though.
