remember when Carlsson went from CBJ to Vegas and people didnt think he would be anything special. A change of scenery can often help a player

would not be surprised if Henrique bounces back and becomes a 20 goal scorer with them lul.

Karlsson didn’t "bounce back" lol. He was a 23 y.o. with potential... Like Bennett and Holden.

Is this is what Iaffalo got, what does Kempe get?
Iaffalo is 27 and Kempe is 24.

Both guys have 50 goals on the career.
For that reason I think the AAV should have been lower

Both players bring more to the lineup than their point totals show. Kempe signed his contract at age 22 when he was a RFA. Iafallo signed his at age 27 on the verge of becoming a UFA. I suspect when Kempe signs his next deal when he's 26, it will be similar to what Iafallo just got.

He is at best market rate at 16/4 and likely a slight overpay by the end of it. Furthermore he will be on the downswing of his career by the time the Kings are ready to do anything. This is exactly the contract you sign if you have no vision, you're trying to rush a re-build, or trying to contend today. The Kings aren't ready to contend and the other two options are BAD. He should have been traded.

Also, every contract that is near fair value isn't a steal. This site over uses the word SOOOO much and this is a great example of it. He is a middle 6 winger, 4 is the max he should make.

Except he's not a middle six winger. He's been the Kings' 1LW since his first game in the NHL.

Im LAKings fan and i dont like it. Lot of people dont see, that he is playing in first line. He should be at least 20% more productive than he is now to be taken as first liner. I think that this inability to have at least one super productive winger is main drawback of LA Kings.

Just because you play on the first line on a terrible team doesn't make you a 1st line winger lol. By that same measure people defended the Phaneuf contract in Toronto by saying he was our 1D.

Not even close to a steal and a terrible decision to sign it

Iafallo has impressed everyone since day 1 and is often praised by his coaches as being the "best player on the ice" night in and night out. He has directly contributed to the resurgence of Dustin Brown and the career scoring years of Anze Kopitar. He plays in all situations (5v5, PP, PK) and is perhaps the best penalty killing forward on the team besides Anze Kopitar (who is top 3 in that area in the league). Is he going to score like Nikita Kucherov? Of course not, but that's why he's making $4M instead of $9.5M.

Anyone who doesn't see this as a bargain for the Kings doesn't watch Iafallo play. Here's an article from today about why he deserves every dollar of his contract.

Kempe may have a higher ceiling, but he is very streaky and is awful when he's off. Iafallo never seems to take a night off and consistently brings the same level of play every game. Read the 2nd link in my post above. It explains his appeal at length.
