One player was placed on waivers and the other player was not.

I'll let you figure out who.

I voted for the San Jose Sharks.

Maybe randos in deeply buried acgm's. You look at his signing thread and no one is really thinking more than depth forward.

Yeah I wish I didn't comment so much so I could go back and find them.

Barabanov fell out of favor but still he tried his best every game and always put 110% into every game

sharks got something good with him

Barabanov is gonna be good unless he isn't
Suomela can earn himself a spot somewhere else, as he isn't getting one in Toronto

This trade is simple, Leafs wanted to send Barabanov somewhere he could play.

Similar players but Barabanov is the better of the two.

Swing and a miss, good luck trying to lure more undrafted and unsigned players Doofus, Lehtonen and Barbanov, probably, privately are saying nasty things about the Leafs organization.

Or conversely, the Leafs traded them elsewhere because they wanted to give them a chance to actually play instead of sitting in the press box for months at a time? I'd say that's more admirable than keeping them when everyone knows they're not gonna play.

A chance to play for loser teams like the Sharks and BJ's....I'm sure both players NHL dreams were playing for a Cup contender not fringe bottom 5 worse team....both players will never play again in the NHL after this season.

I know the trade deadline has passed but does anyone want this guy in their fanbase? Will send Toronto's 2022 first along with him.

I don't know for sure, but personally I'd rather be traded where I can play somewhere than stay in the ahl.

Lol. So true. Maybe we should put him on waivers.

This honestly looks pretty fair to me. 2 solid depth forwards that have a bit teeny bit of upside (bottom six at max). Both teams get a slightly better fit I guess.

Who thought that? I was hoping he'd be a legit 4th liner and if all went well third liner.

Unless an international free agent is hyped like Panarin was, expecting much is asking for trouble.

I'm fairly confident they were traded as respect to them so that they could get NHL minutes so future euro and NCAA UFAs would still come to tor.

Have to disagree with you.
Leafs offered them a chance to play OR they would move them somewhere else they could.

Did right by both Lehtonen and Barabanov.
Wish both players success elsewhere

I have a feeling both were hoping for a Mikhey or Zaitsev deal (play one season to solidify a good NHL future) and sign for better than playing at home cash, but Lehtonen and Barbie got the Aaltonen and Ozganhinov one promised season, which failed and than give up on the NHL dreams.
