I might be in the minority, but I think what Chevy did was fine. It sucks we didn’t get more but that’s okay. Saw what’s Toronto was doing and saw the high prices and didn’t overpay to make a trade. Yes I would’ve loved to see Oleksiak or Manson, but they would’ve had to pay a pretty penny.

Now on the other hand, if Chevy doesn’t do something this offseason to really improve the team, I’d be pissed at that point. I’m okay with rolling with what we have now, but if it doesn’t work out, he’s gotta make something happen this summer.

At least in the Benn deal, we get a veteran defensive D-man that could play top-4 or top-6 minutes, without giving away any futures. If the Jets D isn't vastly improved and doesn't look like this:

Morrissey-UFA RD (Hamilton?)
Heinola-Pionk
Stanley/Samberg-Poolman

Then we might as well just admit that we don't like defence and don't want to win a cup next season.

No the Jets should NOT have made this suggested Dallas trade, why trade Vesalainen for yet another tiny dman, no thanks, would rather keep Vesalainen and see if he pans out then trade him for a guy that could've been claimed off of waivers for free!

Wheeler is clearly in decline, I'm 99.9% sure that Perfetti is going to need at least another year in the AHL and who knows if Copp could keep up this level of production in a normal season, there's still a good chance that there could be a middle six winger spot for Vesalainen next season, shouldn't give up on him just yet, especially not for Honka.

Beaulieu injury/benn replacement, I actually don’t mind where we sit, my only worry is playing ufa benn over Stanley, and not giving samberg and heinola a proper taste for future development. Still remember past playoffs of not playing the future over guys walking in the summer. Blueline still a work in progress, but some of the pieces coming together. I was hoping for a homerun swing, but probably a overpayment or not available at all

We acquired literally the worst dman of the trade deadline deals over the last week, Hutton and Fleury are both much better then Benn and neither went for anything more, let's not make excuses for Chevy, he blew it!

Listen I would’ve rather Seen him grab those two, but he didn’t so we can’t be mad. Apparently Chevy was looking to swing big but the teams held onto their guys. Obviously because of that he had to fall back on another deal which ended up being Benn.

Chevy said he wants Heinola to get some games in down the stretch. Likely we won’t see samberg due to the recall rules.

Which I think is super weak!

Why does it need to be a swing for the fences move?

Teams have won with average D cores, why not make a minor move or two to get the defense up to average?

Also if the swing for the fences move he was rumored to be in on was Manson well sorry but he's an idiot for wasting time on a guy with a NMC who's played in California his entire career and just had a kid, he should focus his energy on players that don't have trade protection.

Now we're going into the playoffs with the exact same defense instead of grabbing some minor upgrades that could've had a decent impact, the missing on Fleury really irritates me, I would've preferred Gudbranson over Benn, at least Gudbranson can throw the mitts when needed.

Wonder if he even called about R.Murray, he's literally better then half of the Jets dmen, probably could've gotten him for a 3rd.

Chevy spoke about some sort of recall rule, and said that it’s unlikely you’ll see some guys coming up because if he recalls they’re essentially stuck with the big club. I’m not sure exactly what he meant, but that’s what he said. Something like a 4 player recall rule

I think it’s weak too, wish we could know what he did. I don’t think the big swing was on Manson. He said he was looking at some guys who had term, like not short term, long term deals. So it would’ve been a real blockbuster.

I see, well Samberg's ELC starts this year no matter what so at this point if they need to call up a dman I hope it's him and not Heinola, might as well for sure slide Heinola's ELC and not blow the first year of it.

Agreed, also what negative comes out of a samberg call up? Nothing, they just get an idea of where he’s at in his development.
