This trade was surprising to me because it came out of nowhere and I didn't know how to feel about it, but I think the hawks got a good player in Borgstrom that will get more opportunity here than in Florida, I was also kinda surprised how Chicago traded Carlson and I thought he played good for us especially last season but it makes room for Mitchell, Beaudin, and Kalynuk. Hopefully Connelly can bounce back with us and we can flip him for positive value.

I really like this trade and I was a fan of Gaudette in his time with Vancouver, Highmore really didn't do much other than be on our shut-down line. I would also like to see this as our 3rd line Kubs-Gaudette-Hinostroza.

I liked Soderberg during his short time here, he was good on the pp and pk and helped us win as his last game as a hawk. Chicago receives a prospect and an AHLER, I don't know much about either so I'll give Colorado the win but I thought the hawks did a good job getting pieces for their future.

I thought Chicago did a great job and got the most for Janmark considering he's going to be a pending ufa, and a lot of people thought Janmark would only go for a 3rd or 2nd. I wish the hawks would've gotten a 2022 2nd instead because it's a lot deeper draft but I'm not going to complain. Vegas does receive a guy who can be moved around in the lineup and can play on the pk or pp, solid pickup from Vegas but a bit overpay

I thought this trade was good because Chicago upgrades there 5th round pick into an early 4th. Madison Bowey was mainly on the taxi squad and was only signed when the hawks b-line was injured or was on covid protocol but Chicago have replaced him with Stillman

Dickinson is more of an ECHL'er than AHLer. Rolston is an ok prospect, but had a poor D+1 year and I'm sure Chicago will have like 15 prospets ahead of him, probably nothing more than an AHL bottom 6 grinder. A better return for Chicago would have been a draft pick, but I guess they liked Rolston enough to ask for him. Happy with that as an Avs fan, totally inconsequential return for a guy who can actually help our bottom 6 this year.

A little nitpicky but I think i would make Bowey an A and the Soderberg trade a flat B. Bowey played a total of like 7 minutes for us and the fact that we traded him to a non-playoff team to upgrade 20 picks is a definite win for us, because with Gaudette and De Haan being the likely exposed targets, we dont have to worry about that factor anymore. Rolston is an interesting target to me. I'd rather him target a former 5th round pick who has the tools and plays in college, because his rights dont expire and Bowman's likely had more time to scout Rolston than someone he would pick in the 5th round, so that's probably a better idea. Either way, largely agree with everything.

Either way, I agree that the return was likely going to be inconsequential either way and the value in this trade is calling up a guy like Barratt or Entwistle and letting them get some NHL minutes instead of Soderberg if we're out of the picture.
