I have no clue why we would go for a short term contract like that for either Kaprizov or Fiala.
In Kappy's case, I'll take a 7 or 8 year contract at $7-9M now over having to pay him $10M+ on his next contract in two years time for an equivalent contract length.
Cap Economics 101. Lock the budding superstar up long-term on the more expensive in the short-term but ultimately cheaper contract than if you push it back another two years on a bridge contract.
Same thing applies to Fiala as well. Minus the superstar bit, but a high-end winger with elite potential nonetheless. 6-7 years on a $5.5-6.5M deal would be fair.
Joel Eriksson-Ek is still probably looking at a 3-4 year deal at around anywhere of $3-4.5M.
Hard no on Stepan. I'd rather go sign Danault if that's what we're looking for, which I do hope we do.
I think that would price Hartman out of Minnesota. We can't afford that with other contracts due up as well.
Cole shouldn't get more than $2.3M..... MAXIMUM. I'd love to bring him back, but only if it's for a cheaper $1.9-2.1M contract at a reasonable 2 years.
