I doubt they take Beniers. Will he be a #1 center in the NHL? From what I've read and seen it looks like is more like Veleno a very good 2 way center that works very hard. For Detroit to take a center with the amount of really good LH defensemen he would have to be a #1 center. Detroit is very thin when it comes to left handed defenseman. I really don't know about Pettersson do they let him go that cheap? He has had a rough season and will more than likely will bounce back but I don't think Detroit can take the chance considering he has 4yrs left on his contract at over $4M a season. IMO

I've not looked at the other prospects available, but I don't mind the Beniers pick. His comparable seems to be a Larkin type - superstar, no. But we'll be bad next year too, and at the top of that draft are some legit offensive stars. That said, I could hear an argument on at least 5 guys with Detroit's pick and be happy with each one.

Its not bad for a non redwings fan. 1 hronek gets a bridge deal for probably like 4 million. Dude is a rock and honestly Idk where we'd be without him. I like the pettersson deal. I dont love him as a player but I think hes a good fit with hronek. We obviously have a real need on that side of the d. 1st overall Idk benier, power, I have no idea what they do but ill take whoever they love.
